When a bespoke or customised piece is required, we work directly with artists, consultants or clients asking on behalf of a supplied conceptual idea. We don’t shy away from new and exciting projects and the team meets internally to ensure the project is within our capabilities.

At this stage, we request either a CAD style drawing or a conceptual sketch. To further clarify the design intent, the team will confirm with the client that what we are developing is exactly what the client requires. For more complicated projects, we will meet clients or consultants in person to fully understand their vision before proceeding.

With the direction set, we begin the process of bringing the idea to life. We put a huge amount of thought into the mechanical side to ensure the product is safe, will last the required duration and installation is made easy. Drawings help determine what’s required to be made and, once manufacturing costs are confirmed, we will issue a formal quote to the client.

Production begins and samples are made. We put immense effort into producing and testing samples, which often goes hand-in-hand with the manufacturing process to determine any changes or modifications and minimise any potential issues with the finished product. Often, many sections or components are made before we are happy with the result.

Depending on the scale of the bespoke project, we will conduct a dry run (assembled and tested inhouse prior to dispatch) to ensure all components, parts and wiring is correct and free from any issues that may occur onsite. Our inhouse electricians will ensure the product is electrically safe and complies with the relevant standards.

The product is packed and ready to be delivered. We take a great deal of care to ensure all parts are correctly labelled ready to be installed onsite. Depending on the scale, CoLab personnel will attend the site to supervise and assist in the installation. Only when we exceed the clients’ expectations is our job finally done.
